Stay Calm in the Face of Anger: Lisle, Illinois
This evening, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj spoke of the importance of remaining calm and collected in the face of anger in our relationships. When one person in a relationship becomes angry, it is important that the other stays quiet and calm, allowing the person to vent out their anger. When we are quiet, we help diffuse the situation by not further fueling the flames of anger with our words. It is not possible, he explained, to have an argument or disagreement if the second party remains quiet and calm; just as it is impossible to clap with one hand.
To keep the peace and maintain harmony in all our relationships, we should learn the technique of holding back in the face of aggression. In doing so, we cool down the flames of anger, and help return the situation to a calmer state quicker.
