Harmony in Health: Science of Spirituality Speaker Series Brings Together Medical Science, Nutrition, and Meditation
Lisle, IL
Dr. Duggal delivering his Keynote Address
Nearly 400 attendees explore the science of healthy weight loss, muscle preservation, and aging with strength and independence
LISLE, IL | October 17, 2026 — What does it take to live not only longer, but healthier, stronger, and more fulfilling lives? That question is at the heart of Harmony in Health: Body, Mind & Spirit, a three-part autumn speaker series sponsored by Science of Spirituality that brings together medical expertise, evidence-based wellness strategies, and meditation to promote whole-person health.
Nearly 400 people attended the series’ inaugural presentation, Plants, Protein & GLP-1s: The Science of Losing Fat While Preserving Muscle, delivered by Dr. Kunwarjit Singh Duggal, a board-certified physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation. The strong turnout reflected growing public interest in understanding how medical advances, nutrition, and everyday lifestyle choices can help people remain healthy, active, and independent throughout life.
Dr. Duggal addressing the large audience on the topic of GLP1 and the science of losing fat without losing muscle
Against the backdrop of America’s obesity epidemic and the growing popularity of GLP-1 weight-loss medications, Dr. Duggal offered a scientifically grounded look at their benefits and potential risks, particularly the loss of muscle alongside fat. “The goal isn’t just losing weight. It’s losing fat while preserving muscle, your body’s metabolic engine,” Dr. Duggal explained. Muscle plays a vital role in regulating blood sugar, supporting joints, maintaining mobility, and preserving strength as we age.
Dr. Duggal addressing the Audience
Drawing on clinical trials and meta-analyses, he emphasized that medications alone are not the answer to healthy weight management. Adequate protein, fiber-rich plant foods, and regular resistance training all play important roles in supporting fat loss, preserving muscle, and promoting long-term health. “We have to let food be our medicine,” he said, highlighting research showing that plant-based proteins can effectively build and maintain muscle, while dietary fiber, found naturally in plants, supports gut health, metabolic function, and the body’s natural GLP-1 response.
His message extended well beyond those taking weight-loss medications, offering a science-based approach to maintaining strength, vitality, and independence as we age. Translating complex science into practical guidance, Dr. Duggal concluded with a simple daily checklist, empowering attendees to take meaningful steps toward better health, greater strength, and lasting independence.
Dr. Duggal interacting with people post the talk for follow-on questions
Drawing on his experience caring for patients in skilled nursing facilities, Dr. Duggal illustrated the profound consequences of muscle loss among older adults. Many patients who are medically stable enough to leave the hospital remain in nursing facilities because weakness and limited mobility prevent them from safely caring for themselves. Everyday activities such as rising from a chair, walking, and maintaining balance can become major obstacles, increasing the risk of falls and prolonging the need for institutional care. To bring this reality home, Dr. Duggal invited the audience to participate in the 30-Second Chair Stand Test, a simple clinical assessment of lower-body strength and functional fitness commonly used in evaluating older adults. The interactive exercise reinforced one of the presentation’s most compelling messages: preserving muscle is not simply about fitness or appearance. It is about maintaining the strength to live independently, enjoy everyday activities, and age with confidence and dignity.
Public talk by Dr. Duggal followed by a meditation session for holistic wellness to nourish mind body an -spirit
Following the medical presentation, attendees were introduced to the SOS meditation technique and its benefits for mental and spiritual well-being. The session explored how meditation can help quiet the mind, cultivate emotional balance, and strengthen self-awareness and self-control, qualities that can also support healthier choices in everyday life. This integration of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being reflects the philosophy underlying Harmony in Health. Science of Spirituality, an international nonprofit organization headed by world-renowned spiritual Master, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj, emphasizes that true well-being encompasses the body, mind, and spirit, with spiritual health providing an essential foundation for a balanced and fulfilling life.
