First, Know Thyself
At some point in our lives, having experienced loss or grief or the trials and tribulations of life, we begin to question the meaning of life. We seek to unravel the mysteries of the universe: Who are we? Why are we here? Is there life beyond this life? Where do we go when we die? Today, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj shed light on our existence and our relationship with God. This human existence, he explained, has been given to us so that we can find our way back to our Source, God.
To achieve this goal, it is crucial that we first realize our true essence. Contrary to what we may believe, we are not our body or the face we see daily in the mirror. Our true nature is soul. The soul is a part of God, and it inhabits the physical body; it gives life to the body. When we awaken to our true nature, we remember our Source and the story of our soul’s separation from God. A deep yearning arises within as we experience our separation from God. This develops into a ruling passion to find our way back Home.
So, how do we realize our true essence? We can do so through the process of meditation. In meditation, we withdraw our attention from the distractions of the outer world and focus it within. Embarking on the spiritual journey, we experience ourselves as a soul and then connect with God’s love and Light, which nourishes and strengthens our soul. All the mysteries of life unfold for us, and all questions are answered.
