Living in the Light
Today, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji spoke of how we can learn to live in the light despite the darkness around us. Our human existence, he said, is a gift from God. In this human body, we have been given all the faculties we need to achieve life’s purpose—to know ourselves as soul and to realize God so the soul can return to God—the Ocean from where it originated.
As we live in this world, God wants us to love God and to love the creation—to see God in all living forms. God wants us to adopt the path of love and use our time on earth wisely. Yet, the human condition is such that we have taken this illusionary world to be real. Through the mechanism of thoughts, desires, and aspirations, we have become entangled in the pursuit of material wealth, fame, and gain. In the process, we while away our precious time, having forgotten and lost sight of the goal.
However, despite the distractions brought about by our mind, we can learn not to be enslaved by the mind. Despite the darkness brought about by the challenges and changing tides of life, we can learn to live in the light. This is possible when our attention is focused solely on God, said the spiritual Master. When we go about our day in sweet remembrance of God, we are firmly anchored in God’s love, which keeps all worldly distractions at bay. When we experience God’s love and light shining within us through meditation, we no longer experience the world’s darkness outside. We learn to always live in the light. This is the life that God wants for us, and it can be ours when we walk the path of love and always remain focused on God.
