“Mind Your Words” A program at the International Meditation Center
This evening, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj shed light on the power of our words. He spoke about the importance of having loving interactions with everyone that we meet. Our words are very potent and have a long-lasting effect, he said. It is important that we pay attention to our words, and that we make the effort to genuinely listen to others in order to have loving interactions that bring peace and calm into our surroundings.
Words, once spoken cannot be retracted, and it is for this reason that we must think twice before we say something, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji said. Additionally, when we bring pain to someone with our words, we influence their outlook on life, and this can in turn impact the lives of others that they interact with.
Our words, even if spoken in jest, have the power to heal or to harm, and we have full control over the words we speak. In the same vein, we are also responsible for the impact and outcome of our words, regardless of what our original intent might have been, he said. We should be very careful about the words that we use to ensure that we bring joy and happiness through them. As we resolve to do so, we will find that we bring peace to ourselves and to our surroundings.
As we become peaceful ourselves, we will have a radiating effect on others in our orbit. To be peaceful, we need to turn to our own source of stability, calm, and peace which is within us. We can do so as we go within through meditation.
