Choose God
In his web broadcast today, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj spoke of how we need to choose God and be firm in our resolve to fulfill life’s purpose. Saints and spiritual Masters come into this world to remind us of what we need to do to find our way back to God.
However, the human condition is such that despite knowing what needs to be done and what is good for us, we succumb to our endless desires and make choices and decisions in life that take us away from our true goal. Our soul, which is separated from God, is in darkness, and this separation from God brings us pain.
The dark clouds over the soul cannot be dispelled by outer lamps, or chandeliers, or the glitter of the outer world, said the spiritual Master. When we invert our attention and focus on God, we can experience the light of God, illuminating our soul. The soul is nourished by connecting with this light; it awakens to its true nature and begins its journey back to God. We can connect with God’s love and light through meditation. If we spend our lives giving in to one desire after another, we will have wasted this golden opportunity to know God, he said.
It behooves us to spend as much time in our spiritual practices as we can without being distracted by the lure of fleeting outer attractions and joys. The sooner we begin our journey back to God, the more time we will have to fulfill our goal.
