Curb the Ego through Meditation
This evening in his Sunday Satsang discourse, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj spoke on how the ego causes us to lead a life of duality, and we consider ourselves to be different and separate from God and God’s creation. He said the antidote to ego is love—love of God.
The love of God is ignited in us as we go within through meditation and experience God’s love. As we experience God’s love, the barriers that separate us from each other are broken down because we realize that the same part of God that is in us is also enlivening them. We then are ready to shed our ego and the coverings of mind, matter and illusion that shroud our soul. We realize the pure, pristine nature of the soul.
The spiritual Master described the joy and bliss we experience in meditation as ineffable. All the fleeting joys and attractions of this outer world lose their charm once we have tasted the joys of the inner worlds. On the journey back to God, we also become aware of our long separation from God, which intensifies our yearning at every step of the way. Our heart enters a state of constant restlessness to meet God, helping us not lose sight of our goal.
