With the holiday season upon us, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj spoke today of the greatest gift we have been given. It is the gift of this human existence bestowed on us by our Divine benefactor. Having left God’s Abode many eons ago, our soul, much like a stray puppy without a home, wandered helplessly through Creation, longing to return to its Home. Out of benevolence, God gifted our soul a human birth—the only form in which it can liberate itself and merge back into the Ocean of God.
Then, we received another blessing—a longing that brought us to a spiritual Master who could guide us on the path of love back to God. Walking this path of love, our soul, a stray no more, has all that it needs. And just as a once-stray puppy taken in by a generous human grows in love and devotion to its friend, we should thank God for the gifts we have been given. How can we do this? Through meditation, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji said.
Meditation, the experiment that we conduct within the confines of our own bodies, helps us experience God’s love and Light for ourselves. Then, the hypothesis that our soul is connected to the Creator no longer remains a hypothesis. It becomes our truth and manifests within us as faith in the Lord. The more we meditate, the more we experience God, and the more this faith is strengthened. The love God gives to us is reflected in our love for God, and this love blossoms into devotion. Love, faith, and devotion to God will propel us forward on the path that leads us back Home.
