This Sunday, addressing a packed audience in Lisle, Illinois, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj spoke of the impermanence of this physical existence and of the need to dig deep within ourselves to experience that which is permanent. As time passes by, we begin to witness the temporary nature of life, he said. Be it our friends, our family, our relationships, our possessions – they all change with time or are taken away from us.

As we lose our loved ones and experience the pain of this ephemeral world, we come to wonder the meaning of this existence. It is then that we embark on the spiritual quest to find purpose in our lives.

To find permanent happiness in life, we must connect to that which is permanent, said the spiritual Master. To experience our soul and to experience God’s eternal love, we must dig deep within ourselves because all the spiritual treasures lie within us. The process of digging to experience these treasures is what we call meditation. It is the process by which we take our attention away from the distractions of the world outside and focus it within ourselves.

The gateway to the spiritual regions is the spiritual eye or the third eye that is located between and behind the eyebrows, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji said. As we tap into the divine treasures within, we experience God’s love and begin to realize our connection with God. It is then that we awaken to the reality of our existence and of our connection to all of God’s creation. Transformed by the love we experience, we begin to embrace everyone as our very own, spreading love to all we meet.
