This human existence is a golden opportunity given to us so that we can fulfill a supreme purpose—the merger of our soul back into its Source, the Creator. We have a limited lifespan, and it is up to us to make the most of our time here.

Each of us has 24 hours in a day, out of which we use a major portion for sleep, work, fulfilling our worldly responsibilities, and tending to the needs of our bodies. With the few hours remaining each day, we can choose to focus on what helps us with our life’s spiritual goal, or we can choose to focus on activities that keep us entangled in the attractions of the outer world. Likewise, as we go through our day, we can choose to keep our attention attached to the world, or we can discharge our obligations while remaining focused on God.

Whatever we do, it is up to us how we use our free time and where we focus our attention. The choice is ours, said the spiritual Master. If we choose to focus on God, we will steadily take steps in God’s direction.
