This Sunday, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji spoke of the many measures that travelers on the spiritual way use to determine their growth and progress. Some measure the increase in their mental knowledge about the spiritual teachings, while others gauge their progress by measuring their experiences during meditation. Still others look at the virtues that they have instilled into their lives and the failures they have weeded out. One of the main factors that marks our progress on the spiritual path, which many of us forget to consider, he said, is our faith in God.
If our faith in God has intensified, and if we develop an understanding that everything that happens in life is under God’s Will, then we will have truly understood what this life is all about. It is easy to have faith when things are going well. But for most of us, as soon as something goes wrong, our faith in God is shattered and we bemoan our plight and circumstances, said the spiritual Master.
This happens because of our limited vision and knowledge about life; our knowledge is limited to what we have learned in this life. Sant Rajinder Singh Ji said that this is why we are unable to understand the experiences we are going through, and then we become disillusioned. Through a humorous anecdote, he explained that it is those who have faith in God who are able to live by the principle of “sweet Is Thy will” and are able to grow on the spiritual path.
