Addressing the tens of thousands tuned in for the live broadcast today, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj spoke of the nature of prayer and of the relationship between prayer and faith in God.

These are difficult times for all of us, the spiritual Master began, and it is human nature to pray when faced with challenges and difficulties. Prayer is the recognition that there is a Higher Power and the means by which we ask God for what we believe is good for us, according to our limited knowledge and vision. When our requests are granted through prayer, we feel relieved and elated, and our faith in God is strong, he said. However, when our prayers seemingly go unanswered, our faith is easily shattered and we become disillusioned.

It is only through the gift of hindsight that we realize and understand the wisdom of God’s ways, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji pointed out. When our faith in God is strengthened, we begin to live under the principle of “sweet is Thy will,” accepting with gratitude all that comes our way. Then, our prayers shift from asking for what we believe is good for us, to asking for God’s will to play out in our lives. We evolve from a state of prayer to a state of meditation, the highest form of prayer.

In this ever-changing world, we should strive to strengthen our faith so that we can anchor ourselves in God’s love. God is with us and within us, reminded the spiritual Master. While there may be difficulties and turmoil around us, this too shall pass. Let us keep our attention focused on God and have faith that God is always protecting and guiding us so that we can navigate life without fear, he concluded.
