Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj arrived in Quito, Ecuador today, the first stop of his 12-day, four-city visit to South America. In his inaugural address, the spiritual Master shared his joy to be back in Quito, and expounded on the significance of the holiday season— the season of caring, sharing, and giving.
We give as an expression of our love, and in giving our heart expands, he said. In the same vein, when we give love, then more love comes back to us, for love is the only commodity that expands as we give it away.
Sharing a legend about the evergreens, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji described the kind of lives we should lead if we are to make the most of the great gift that God has given us. This is the gift of knowing God, of loving God, and the opportunity to be one with God. He encouraged the audience to unwrap this gift so we can make the most of it, and strive to live in harmony with everyone.
Within us, he said, is the spiritual sunshine of God’s love that keeps us warm despite the winter outside. It is up to us to experience this sunshine, and we can only do so as we sit in silence and go within through meditation.
Through meditation we remove the layers of mind, matter, and illusion that shroud our soul and keep it from knowing its true self. On this Christmas day, he said, let us remember that the outer lights are just symbols of the lights within. Let us experience these lights within, connect with God’s love, and fulfil the purpose of this human existence.
