In early July this year, NASA released images from the James Webb Space Telescope. The telescope provides scientists a first-ever glimpse into the formation of the Universe and the earliest galaxies by leveraging light that has traveled billions of light years to get to earth. On the heels of this major scientific milestone, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj today spoke of another type of light studied by saints and mystics since time immemorial – the inner Light. This inner Light can be experienced without needing any technology or outer aides, said the spiritual Master, because it resides within us. Experience of this inner Light helps us unravel the deepest mysteries of life. So how can we experience this inner Light?

Each of us is born with a spiritual eye, a gateway between and behind the two eyebrows that opens into the inner spiritual worlds. When, through the process of meditation, we withdraw our attention from the distractions of the outer world and focus it at this gateway, we can connect with the inner Light. As we do so, we awaken to the realities of this existence.

God is the source of all love, joy, and bliss, and when we connect with God’s love and Light we bathe in this same joy and bliss. Like a fluorescent object that glows long after it has been exposed to light, we, too, glow with divine love and Light long after our meditations. Contact with God’s Light transforms us, and we become ambassadors of divine love radiating it to all in our orbit as we steadily make our way back Home. To succeed on this journey, we need to patiently perfect our meditation technique and be regular in our practice. Time in this physical existence is ticking away. It is up to us to make the most of this human existence to fulfill life’s purpose. This human birth is our opportunity to bask in the inner Light so that we can glow with God’s love.
