Today, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj shed light on how we can experience God for ourselves.

Our sense of sight is our predominant sense. We use our eyes extensively to make sense of the world around us—so much so that when we set out to find God, we continue to lean on our faculty of sight. We search for God in the outer world, in far-off mountains, jungles, and deserts, hoping that we will “see” God. However, we fail in our search because God is not on the outside, said the spiritual Master. God resides within us. As such, we cannot see God with the outer eyes. If we are to experience God, we need to look through the inner eye or the spiritual eye given to every human being.

When, through the process of meditation, we take our attention away from the world outside and focus it at the spiritual eye, we begin to see the inner spiritual worlds. These worlds are illumined and conscious, and when the soul embarks on the inner journey, it experiences increasing love, Light and bliss. Connecting with the inner Light of God, the soul regains its pristine beauty and brilliance. Gradually, the soul, a part of God, merges back in God. The small flame merges in the Big Flame, and it is then that we fulfill the purpose for which we were given this human existence.
