This evening at the International Meditation Center in Lisle, Illinois, Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj spoke on how we can remain calm and peaceful in all circumstances. Elaborating on the nature of anger, he explained that anger does not come from the person at which it is directed, but rather, anger arises because it is embedded deep within us.

Anger does not help resolve a situation; instead, it just creates difficulties for the one in whom it arises. The key to remaining peaceful in situations that would cause us to become angry, he said, is to not place blame on anyone else. Instead we should deal with the situation in a calm and collected manner. To do so, we need to defocus from the situation, and home into the Source of all calmness which is within us.

As we take our attention away from the situation, and focus our attention within through meditation, we connect with the divine Light and Sound of God, which fills us with love and peace. Dipping into the Source of all love, we become imbued in God’s love. Then, instead of being angry, it is love that goes out from us to everyone else.
